The next two pages after Ruff is hit by the car deal most keenly with Rascal's sense of loss and confusion over the incident and I wanted to really bring that out in the actual illustrations. I'm working on the basis off, the illustrations alone should be able to tell (at least roughly) the storyline, with the text itself just being support for them.

As such, getting across how alone and isolated Ruff's death makes Rascal feel was important to me. I worked this into the illustrations by having him placed in a corner of the page, his body-language drawn in and hunched over on himself. For the background I went with large open spaces with little detail, to emphasise the loneliness Rascal feels.
